50 Cent and Ja Rule have been beefing for what seems like forever, and the origins of their spat has been revealed by Steve Stoute.
In an episode of Club Shay Shay that aired on Wednesday (March 6), host Shannon Sharpe asked the CEO of UnitedMasters how the two New York MCs fell out.
“That’s a good question,” Stoute said. “I think 50 knew that Ja was not who he was portraying as an image. Ja [was a] Jehovah’s Witness… I’m not saying they not supposed to rap, but Ja was coming up with this gangster image. It was like, ‘That’s a stretch for you…’ They had some very neighborhood beef.
“I remember when we signed 50 there was something going on. I think he snatched Ja’s chain, or somebody snatched somebody’s…And then they had a fight in Atlanta…and it was just like, I never understood it.”
Stoute continued: “I was like, ‘Why do you keep having problems with this guy?’ It was like he was always looking for problems…I think it was driven by this idea that this image he was portraying he didn’t think was authentic…It led to big issues. Ja and his guys ran up on 50 in the studio one day. They touched him up.”
Sharpe then asked if they would ever be cool, to which Stoute answered that he doubted they could mend their differences.
“They’re never gonna be cool, and now, I’m happy that it’s all kind of over with,” he said. “What I don’t like at this point as older statesmen is…it makes the artform look bad. These guys are made men now…The leaders of the artform doin well, being positive, representing…the movement and the culture of Hip Hop well. For guys still to be beefing and still…dragging that back in…you in your 40s, bro. What are you talking about? You got kids at home.”

The duo have been going back and forth for quite some time now.
Earlier this month, Ja reiterated his claim that he once beat 50 in a physical fight and said their long-running beef is completely one-sided.
Appearing on Piers Morgan Uncensored, the former Murder Inc. rapper was repeatedly pressed by the host about his storied history with 50.
Morgan asked Ja who would win in a fight between him and the G-Unit mogul, to which he replied: “That’s happened already too, Piers. You gotta do your research.”
Asked by Morgan who won, the Queens, New York native answered: “I did, Piers.”
Ja Rule then went on to call their feud “one-sided,” adding: “You never see me say anything about him. I just mind my business, do my business… I don’t do the back and forth.”
Ja Rule previously claimed to have beaten up 50 Cent with a bat at the height of their feud in 2000.
Last year, the G-Unit icon publicly ridiculed his long-running rival once again, clowning him over a theatrical performance where he pretended to be Jesus Christ,
The mogul shared a video on Instagram of the Murder Inc. hitmaker tied to a wooden column — a reference to the Flagellation of Christ — while he performs his biblical 2000 song “One of Us.”
The clip, which was filmed at the 2023 BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards in Miami, also showed Rule surrounded by singers dressed in white church robes, with a projector screen depicting a sunset behind them on stage.
“Look at this shit head, is he supposed to be Jesus [grinnig face emoji],” 50 sneered in his caption. “WTF you can’t make this shit up. LOL so stupid!”
