50 Cent has appeared on Cookin Soul’s latest Christmas mixtape, spitting over classic festive jingles.

Titled Xmas Massacre, the tape features the Spanish producer blending mixtape era 50 Cent tracks with traditional Christmas songs.

Captioning an Instagram post announcing the release, the Amsterdam-based beatsmith described the 10 track tape as “The most gangsta Christmas album.”

“Celebrate the holidays with your loved ones while listening to this mix of 50 Cent’s rapping over classic Christmas samples flipped by Cookin Soul,” read the caption. “This project transports you to the golden era of G-Unit mixtapes that dominated the internet and the streets.”

This is the latest in a series of Christmas tapes by Cookin Soul, following previous versions featuring vocals from the likes of MF DOOM and A Tribe Called Quest.

Cookin Soul previously spoke to MusicTech about the tradition of Christmas mixtapes, saying: “I knock out mixtapes in four or five days. I’ve been making music for a long time so I know what I want. I have my studio set up in the fastest way for me.”

He added: “When I’m looking for sounds, I’m thinking, ‘Okay, I can use this drum or this drum pattern’, or, ‘This acapella is going to fit.’ When I did DOOM XMAS, I knew that I was going to use something from The Grinch. I just had to find the right part.”

Cookin Soul has also produced tracks for the likes of Freddie Gibbs, Conway the Machine and Nipsey Hussle.

For his part, 50 Cent has been more focussed on his ever growing film and TV empire than music of late.

He recently took possession of a huge studio in Louisiana that will serve as a home for his G-Unit Film and TV, taking on a 30-year lease to the tune of just $2,400 per year.

On November 14, KSLA News reported that city council members in Shreveport, Louisiana have introduced a legislation allowing the Hip Hop mogul to lease Millennium Movie Studio as a base for his entertainment company, G-Unit Film & Television Louisiana, LLC.

“We enjoyed for a period after 2005, we enjoyed a very robust television and film industry in the Shreveport area,” Mayor Tom Arceneaux said. “This will bring back, I think, a lot of those people and will rejuvenate that industry in our area. So I think the film industry is about to blossom again in Shreveport.”

Mayor Arceneaux further explained that 50’s future investments in the property justified the price tag.

“[50 Cent]’s undertaking all of the maintenance and repair, which is around 160 to 170 thousand dollars a year. So to look at just the lease payment is not fair to him. We also anticipate he’s going to make several million dollars of improvements to the facility. This is a very serious proposal, a very serious undertaking by him.”

On December 12, the Shreveport City Council approved the proposal, which the G Unit boss celebrated by sharing a first look at the property via Instagram.
