50 Cent has thrown some shade at Cîroc after rumors began circulating that he was being lined up to replace Diddy as the face of the vodka brand.
Putting the speculation to bed, 50 made it clear that he is not interested in pursuing a business relationship with Cîroc.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday (April 3), he wrote: “I own my brands I wouldn’t be an ambassador for Ciroc, I haven’t seen anybody drinking that shit lately it’s over. LOL.”
50 had previously seemed to indicate that he would be partnering with Cîroc after posting a screenshot of an article linking him to the company and commenting: “Good morning people start the day off with positive energy, and make what your heart desires happen. QGTM.”
TMZ later reported that Cîroc were not looking to team up with 50 after the vodka brand’s parent company Diageo parted ways with Diddy earlier this year following an acrimonious lawsuit and the sexual assault allegations made against the Bad Boy Records founder.
50 has his own alcohol brand, Sire Spirits, named after his youngest son.
Diddy ended his long-running relationship with Cîroc in January after previously suing the company for racial discrimination.
“Sean Combs and Diageo have now agreed to resolve all disputes between them,” a statement read. “Mr. Combs has withdrawn all of his allegations about Diageo and will voluntarily dismiss his lawsuits against Diageo with prejudice.
“Diageo and Mr. Combs have no ongoing business relationship, either with respect to Cîroc vodka or DeLeón tequila, which Diageo now solely owns.”
Puffy’s since-withdrawn suit accused the multinational alcohol company of neglecting their DeLeón tequila brand while throwing their full support behind George Clooney’s Casamigos.
As reported by The Wall Street Journal, the lawsuit was filed in May 2023 by Combs Wine and Spirits in Manhattan’s New York State Supreme Court.
It alleged that Diageo poured all of its resources into backing the Hollywood superstar’s tequila brand after acquiring it in 2017 for around $1 billion.
Furthermore, Puffy accused the company of racial discrimination and alleged that they marketed his DeLeón brand as an “urban” and “Black” tequila brand.
“This is a business dispute, and we are saddened that Mr. Combs has chosen to recast this matter as anything other than that,” a company spokeswoman for Diageo said in response. “Our steadfast commitment to diversity within our company and the communities we serve is something we take very seriously.”
