Biggie once diffused a brawl between Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Wu-Tang Clan, according to Layzie Bone.

Speaking to The Art of Dialogue, the Bone Thugs legend discussed how the group developed a rapport with Biggie after he helped them out of what he calls a “sticky situation.”

“So Russell Simmons’ Christmas party. We had just signed Flesh-n-Bone to Def Jam so we was invited to the Christmas party,” he recalled. “Mo Thugs family, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony — we from out of town so we was there all day… until we shut that muthafucka down.

“Something happened, Wu-Tang came in, one member or another member had some — it had nothing to do with the main characters; it was our up-and-coming artists and people that were around, our entourage.”

He continued: “”So pushing and shoving started, bottles get to throwing, a fight broke out. When [Bone Thugs’ “Everyday Thang 2” came on at the party] all hell broke loose. And then we had to get up out of there.

“Thank God, rest in peace to Chris Lighty and his brother Dave Lighty got us out the party. Coming out the party, we was finna get rushed. Now, we just went to breakfast with Method Man that morning so we didn’t understand the confusion.

“So Meth was like, ‘Ya’ll gonna get up outta here.’ But it was n-ggas coming with them thangs, though. It was finna go there and that’s when Biggie showed up. He kinda cleared the path for us to get outta there. That’s a long story short. Way more shit happened than that.”

The brawl, which happened in 1996, was previously detailed by Consequence, who claimed the violence started after Ghostface Killah saw Wish Bone and threw a champagne bottle at him.

Cons also said he saw Ghostface change into a ninja outfit during the melee, which he said was partly fueled by the tension surrounding the 1990s East Coast vs. West Coast beef.

“Bone Thugs had been invited to the party via Violator, and at this time, who also was smoking hot in the streets is the Wu-Tang Clan,” he told Complex. “With these slightly combustible elements in the same room, there actually is a showdown, so to speak.

“Wish Bone was being ushered through the party. Ghostface was ushering himself through the party. When Ghostface saw that man — I guess he had put him as Eazy-E’s artist because they were on Ruthless [Records] — he labeled him as a West Coast artist and was like, ‘Yo! Fuck is you doing here?!’ Got up in that man’s face and everything!”

He continued: “Ghostface is dressed in a Helly Hansen yellow rainsuit from head to toe with a hood on. I don’t know where he got a champagne bottle from, but it felt like it came out like a Spider-Man web. I mean, literally, he backed up and was like, ‘Nah, fuck that!’ He throws a champagne bottle at Wish Bone.

“Wish Bone ducks, it hits my guy across the face. So then now it’s a melee. Bottles everywhere. It’s crazy in there … [As I’m leaving], I turn to the left. Ghostface is taking off his Helly Hansen outfit and putting on a ninja suit! With three other guys doing the same thing!”

He added: “I really seen him do some shit in the streets that’s way past anything that’s said on social media. Like, he really is about that Wu-Tang life.”

This past weekend, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony performed at an NFL game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos. It was Krayzie Bone‘s first public appearance since undergoing life-saving surgery last year after it was discovered he had a leaking artery.
