Chuck D can see right through Donald Trump with his new sneaker line, which the Public Enemy star feels is “bait” for the Black vote.
Trump unveiled the new kicks at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia earlier this month, which prompted Chuck to speak up on Twitter/X on Monday (February 26).
“I ain’t never been a sneaker head,” he wrote with a drawing of what appears to be a Black man holding the new kicks. “I wear em don’t overthink much of em … dude thinks he can get the black vote like the other guy by dangling bait. Lol 2024 we laughed at the possibility of this scenario last century”
When one of his followers replied with a photo of Trump with Muhammad Ali, Don King and Jesse Jackson while claimung that “Ali loved Trump,” Chuck replied: “Love ain’t in none of this when its a photo op , cmon dude.”

Unlike Chuck D, Fat Joe is into Trump’s new drop – though the rapper made it clear he doesn’t support the former president’s politics.
During an Instagram Live stream on Monday (February 26), the “Lean Back” hitmaker defended purchasing the sneakers and insisted that works of art stand by themselves despite the politics of the people behind them.
According to him, it’s no different with the former president, who he also openly disavowed.
“If you collect art, do you really know what [Jean-Michel] Basquiat was into?” he began. “Do you know what Andy Warhol was into? Any of these artists that you was into? You love the art, so you get it. I guess they separate art from the person.
“Now, me as a sneaker collector, I had to get my hand on the Trumps […] But listen, I have thousands and thousands and thousands of pairs of sneakers.
“When everybody flipped on Kanye [West], I went and bought the two most exclusive Kanyes ever.”
He then clarified: “Once again, I’m not a Trumper. I dislike Trump. I’m not voting for him — not now, not never — but I’m a sneaker collector into the art.”
