Drake, J. Cole & Rick Ross Appear On Lionel Messi Playlist Leave a comment

Drake, J. Cole, Rick Ross and more have been shown some love by Lionel Messi by being featured on his new “Warm Up” playlist.

The Argentinian soccer superstar, who currently plays in the MLS for Inter Miami, unveiled a playlist with Apple Music this week full of tunes he uses to get motivated before games.

Messi offered up an eclectic choice of 60 songs that spanned several genres and languages.

Speaking about the playlist, he said: “For as long as I can remember, music has played an important part in my life, especially on match days. Music quiets my mind, helps me stay calm and relaxed.”

The playlist features Drake and J. Cole’s No. 1 hit “First Person Shooter,” Rick Ross’ 2006 anthem “Hustlin’” and the Rihanna classic “Don’t Stop the Music,” among others.

There are also many Spanish language tracks such as J Balvin’s “Ay Vamos” and multiple songs from Bad Bunny.

Messi also appeared to be a fan of rock legends U2 and alternative act Gorillaz.

The love between Leo Messi and Rick Ross appears to be mutual as Rozay welcomed the former Barcelona forward to Miami when he signed last year.

Last summer, the MMG mogul pulled up to a mural of the World Cup winner with a bottle of his Belaire Rosé to celebrate his arrival in the Sunshine State. Ross took photographs in front of the wall art that read: “Welcome to Miami,” which he subsequently posted on Instagram.

In the caption, he wrote: “@leomessi welcome to Miami. Now let’s celebrate with this bottle of @officialbelaire [champagne classes emoji].”

“Messi, I pulled out the Batmobile just to come show you love,” he added in a separate post while standing next to his Lamborghini. “Messi, welcome to 305 [Miami’s area code].”

Lil Baby was also excited to welcome Messi to Miami as the soccer star was introduced to Inter Miami fans while his song “The World Is Yours to Take” played over the stadium’s speakers.

Baby reposted the moment and added a bunch of fire emojis to show he was down with Messi’s arrival in the MLS after previously playing for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

In a statement, Messi spoke in Spanish about moving to the city: “I’m very happy to have chosen to come to this city with my family and to have chosen this project. I don’t have a doubt that we’ll enjoy it and we’ll have a good time and beautiful things will happen.”
