J. Cole has announced he’s in the final stages of completing his seventh studio album, though he didn’t offer a hint as to when it might arrive.
On Friday (February 2), the Dreamville MC stormed the stage at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida alongside Drake for the opening night of their It’s All a Blur – Big as the What? Tour.
During his set, Cole revealed to fans that he was nearing completion of his highly anticipated album, The Fall Off.
“Right now, I’m at the tail-end of working on this album I’ve been working on for a long time,” said Cole, during the opening night for his It’s All a Blur – Big as the What? tour with Drake, in Tampa. “It’s called The Fall Off.”
Amid enthusiastic cheers from the crowd, he gauged their love for rap and delivered a fiery verse from Lil Yachty‘s ‘The Secret Recipe.’ Further adding to the excitement, Drizzy teased fans by revealing he had already heard J. Cole’s upcoming album, confidently dubbing it “a classic.”

News of Cole’s new album comes on the heels of a prolific run of features in 2023 including Lil Yachty – “The Secret Recipe,” Drake – “First Person Shooter,” Lil Durk – “All My Life,” and Nicki Minaj – “Let Me Calm Down,” among others.
Last spring, Cole confirmed new music was on the way on “To Summer, From Cole,” the opening song from Summer Walker’s new Clear 2: Soft Life EP which arrived in May.
Featuring a heartfelt verse from Cole sandwiched by a tender hook from Walker, the song serves as an “audio hug” from the North Carolina rapper to the Atlanta singer — reminiscent of his uplifting poem about self-acceptance at the end of Logic’s “AfricAryaN.”
“I’m thinkin’ about ya, I heard you just had you another lil baby/ Congratulations, I hope you got through it with no complications/ I find it amazing, the way that you juggle your kids, the biz, the fame, the bitches that’s hatin’/ They sit around waiting for you to fall off like the album I’m making,” he raps.
Though there’s no word of when Cole’s album will drop, fans will have plenty of time to catch him on the road.
The It’s All a Blur — Big As the What? tour will trek across the United States and make stops in Nashville, St. Louis, Buffalo, New Orleans and more before possibly making a trip over the pond.
During a Kick stream with Roshtein that went live in December, Drake revealed plans to extend his live act across the pond and beyond.
“I think I’m going to tour in Europe,” he told the host, before clarifying it with more certainty. “Oh, that’s maybe an exclusive — yeah, oh, I’m definitely going on a Europe tour next year … we obviously have a tour coming up [in] January …”
