JAY-Z has an unlikely love for the Judge Judy, according to actor and director Bradley Cooper.

In an interview with SAG-AFTRA shared earlier this month, the director of A Star is Born revealed Hova’s dedication to Judge Judy’s long-running program.

Bradley Cooper shared this revelation in an interview with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, where he explained how he came to direct 2018’s A Star is Born. A producer for the film told Cooper he could make the film if he could do so for under $25 million and convince Beyoncé to star in it.

Cooper explained: “I went to Beyoncé’s house and JAY-Z was watching Judge Judy, I still remember. I’m not kidding. And I was freaking [out]…She was incredible and so was he, and we developed it for like a year together. I mean, she’s one of the greatest people of all time. Then that fell through.” Check out the story at around the 43:15 mark.

Beyoncé ended up having to drop the film due to her pregnancy, but at least the recruiting effort shed some light on JAY’s viewing habits.

Hova made news earlier this week when he came to Dame Dash‘s defense pertaining to his former business partner’s current legal matters.

According to documents obtained by Radar Online, a judge ordered Dame to sell his shares of Roc-A-Fella Records after he reportedly refused to pay a $823,000 judgment to movie producer Josh Weber that stemmed from the 2016 film Dear Frank.

Both Jay and Kareem “Biggs” Burke objected to Dame having to sell his shares in an auction, on the basis that company bylaws mandate that the board of directors must first approve the sell-off. However, U.S. Magistrate Robert W. Lehrburger ruled that the former exec’s one-third ownership of Roc-A-Fella can, in fact, be seized to help cover the judgment since it is his personal property.

Jay and Biggs’ main objection was less about siding with Dame, however, and stemmed from concerns that an outsider could purchase the intellectual rights to Roc-A-Fella. To address the issue, Lehrburger said, “They can participate in the auction and place the winning bid.”
