Kanye West Gives Update On ‘Vultures 2’ As Album Fails To Drop Leave a comment

Kanye West has offered an update on the status of Vultures 2 after the album failed to arrive on its scheduled release date.

Ye’s second collaborative project with Ty Dolla $ign — the follow-up to last month’s Vultures 1 — was supposed to be released on Friday (March 8), as the duo announced earlier this year.

However, the album has yet to appear on streaming services and seems unlikely to be released anytime soon given the lack of a promotional rollout.

In a direct message on Instagram to the fan account Ye Fanatics in the early hours of Friday morning, Kanye addressed the delay and revealed that he and Ty are still working on Vultures 2.

“Hi Ye. Will Vultures 2 be available today?” Ye Fanatics asked the rapper, to which he simply replied: “We in the lab.”

It’s currently unclear when Vultures 2 is expected to be released. A third installment, Vultures 3, was previously announced to be dropping on April 5.

Kanye West has taken to DMing fans on social media lately as a way of sharing updates on his various creative ventures — or, in some cases, correct reports about the projects he’s working on.

Last month, the Chicago rap icon clarified to Ye Fanatics that he is not actually recording a new solo album called Y3, as had been claimed by Erick Sermon.

“This is fake news. Ain’t no album called Y3,” he wrote. “And ain’t nobody tryna be the ‘old Ye.’ When I made 808s [& Heartbreak] n-ggas was running round talking bought they miss the old Ye.”

“We just made King / Back 2 Me / Carnival/Talking just to name a few. We got the number 1 song in the world and number 1 album in the world with top level beats top level bars top level hooks top level features,” he added, championing the success of Vultures 1.

“I’m the greatest artist in any genre ever. And I’m just getting started.”

Details about Vultures 2 are slim, but the album could be another star-studded affair as Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign played a slew of songs featuring big-name artists at listening events in Miami and Las Vegas last year.

The unreleased material included collaborations with Young Thug, Kid Cudi, Lil Wayne, Kodak Black, Lil Baby, Bad Bunny and Charlie Wilson, among others.

As for Vultures 1, Ye and Ty’s first offering was released on February 10 after several delays and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with almost 150,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.

The project featured appearances from Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Lil Durk, Chris Brown, Freddie Gibbs, YG, Quavo, Rich The Kid and others.
