Kanye West’s oldest daughter has already distinguished her self in the music industry thanks to a cameo on her father collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign.
On Wednesday (February 21), Billboard reported that 10-year-old North West’s feature on “Talking” has made her one of the youngest artist to ever secure a spot on their Hot 100 tally. As of now, the Vultures 1 track sits at No. 30 on the chart.
Soon after the accomplishment went public, her parents took to their Instagram Stories to celebrate the accolade —Ye and Kim Kardashian both shared screenshots of the news, with the latter writing “My baby!!!!”
On the song in question, she raps: “I love it here / We’re gonna take over another year/ It’s your bestie Miss, Miss Westie. Don’t try to test me/ It’s gonna get messy/ Just, just bless me, bless me/ It’s your bestie Miss, Miss Westie.”
A little over a week after its release, Ye and Ty’s album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
According to the publication, the collaborative effort generated 148,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, with 129,000 of that figure coming from streaming units (167.78 million on-demand streams in total), 18,000 from pure album sales and 1,000 from TEA (track equivalent album) units.
With this accolade, the Chicago native now has 11 No. 1 albums to his name, placing him shoulder-to-shoulder with Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand — only Drake (13), Taylor Swift (13), JAY-Z (14) and The Beatles (19) are currently ahead of him.
The album is Ty Dolla $ign’s first No. 1 and second Top 10 following 2020’s Featuring Ty Dolla $ign.
The Yeezy boss reacted to the news by issuing a brief statement to Complex, saying: “It’s a beautiful time.”
Ty also celebrated the milestone on his Instagram Stories with a video of him lifting his index finger to the camera while silencing the naysayers.
Released earlier this month, Vultures 1 boasts uncredited appearances from Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Lil Durk, Chris Brown, Freddie Gibbs, YG, Quavo, Rich The Kid and others. The project was initially only available on streaming platforms and as a digital download through online retailers and the mogul’s website.
Physical versions of the album on CD and vinyl are set to be released later this year, with Ye’s store currently accepting pre-orders.
