Method Man has told Kevin Hart that there are still some rappers that he gets geeked out over, and LL COOL J gets the most props.

Mef stopped by the comedian’s Gold Minds with Kevin Hart podcast on Wednesday (March 6), and said he feels that the Queens pioneer doesn’t get his just due.

“I still fan out over LL COOL J, let me tell you,” Method Man revealed. “Sixteen! Sixteen years old [when he released his first single]! Come on, man. People don’t talk enough about COOL J, man.”

In the same interview, Kevin Hart showed respect to Ice-T, who recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Check out the full interview below. The comments about Uncle L begin at the 39:55 mark.

As fans of classic Hip Hop know, Method Man and LL COOL J collaborated back in 1997 on the song “4,3,2,1,” a song that was released on Uncle L’s seventh studio album Phenomenon, and was credited with kicking off the Queens rapper’s beef with Canibus.

LL and Meth have long been considered two of the hottest men in Hip Hop — both behind the mic and in front of the camera — and now fans are wondering which one is “hotter.”

The discussion was triggered on the Neighborhood Talk Instagram page on January 17. The post was a screenshot of a tweet that asked, “I have a very important question to ask: LL Cool J or Method Man?”

The comments varied, as might be expected. “I have 2 holes, ima say both,” wrote one commenter, whereas another wrote, “No homo but BOTH and that’s on the dead homies.”

Still another fan thought that LL Cool J was past his prime, but the Wu-Tang Clan breakout star could still get it. “Method Man today …. LL cool J 15 years ago,” wrote one fan.

Another fan, however, felt that Big Elly could still get the business. “LL all day! Bring that buff bald head here, respectfully,” the fan wrote.

And LL isn’t the only one getting his flowers.

Back in December, Method Man got some fan love from an unexpected source as he showed his appreciation for another celebrated artist.

Devin The Dude took to Instagram to show off the box he received from Meth’s marijuana line, TICAL, filled with all different strains to try. On the package, Meth added, “2 Devin The Dude, flowers 2 a legend.”

“Oooh yeeeeeeaaahh. Got an autographed Tical Package from Meth himself!” Devin captioned the video. “@methodmanofficial Much love and thanks. Big shot out to @redmangilla, Nut, and the crew. Major shout out to @hightimesmagazine”

Method Man launched TICAL in 2020 with the intent to spark conversations about racial injustice across the globe. The brand shares the title of his 1994 debut album, which featured the hit single “Bring The Pain.”
