N.O.R.E. has been in Hip Hop long enough to gain expertise on almost everything, but even he knows that JAY-Z is the go-to when it comes to watches.
The rapper-turned-podcaster stopped by the Wrist Check podcast — which specifically addresses timepieces — on Friday (February 2) to reveal why he trusts Hova’s guidance on such matters.
“I won’t buy a watch unless I speak to certain people,” he said. “JAY-Z’s top of the list. He does not answer me all the time.”
He continued: “But I think that’s respect. I think that if he doesn’t like the watch, he won’t say, ‘N.O.R.E., don’t do that.’ He’s too rich and too smart and too fly. […] When I got the Nautilus, and when I got the Aquanaut, I sent him both pictures. And his exact words were, ‘Get both them bitches!’”

N.O.R.E. is wise to seek JAY-Z’s counsel on watches, as last summer, the Hip Hop billionaire casually sported a $7 million Patek Philippe at Michael Rubin’s star-studded Fourth of July party in the Hamptons.
According to professional pocket-watcher and watch connoisseur Chad Alexander, Hov rocked a rare bit of wrist jewelry worth north of $7 million.
“JAY-Z wore his vintage yellow gold Patek Philippe reference 2499,” Alexander said in a TikTok video while sharing photos from the 2023 bash. “One of these in rose gold recently sold at an auction for $7.7 million.”
The auction he is referencing was reported by Hypebeast to be at Sotheby’s Hong Kong where another colorway of the rare watch sold for seven figures in April 2022.
There was plenty of lavish wristwear around Michael Rubin’s party, as Lil Baby donned the silver “Bubba Watson” Richard Mille, which goes for about $350,000, while DJ Khaled opted to go with the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch that retails for around $450,000.
The stars were out for the Fanatics CEO’s all-white party which went down at a Hamptons mansion on July 3 with dignitaries coming together from across entertainment, business, and sports.
On the music side, Travis Scott, Beyoncé, Quavo, Lil Durk, Jack Harlow, Kelly Rowland, Coi Leray, Fabolous, Jennifer Lopez and Justin Bieber all pulled up.
