Ski Mask the Slump God had some thoughts about the new song by Cardi B — namely, that it sounds like a track of his.
The Florida rapper took to social media on Friday (March 1) to quote-tweet Cardi promoting the video for her new song “Like What (Freestyle),” while commenting, “Sounds Kinda Familiar.”
He was referring to his 2017 song “Catch Me Outside,” which uses a beat extremely similar to “Like What.” “Catch Me Outside,” whose video was directed by Cole Bennett, bills itself as a “remix” of Missy Elliott’s 1999 single “She’s a Bitch,” which was produced by Timbaland.

Production on “Like What (Freestyle)” is credited to James “DJ SwanQo” Steed, Sean Island, OctaneThisThatGas, and Lateef. In addition to the producers, Cardi, Missy and Timbaland all receive writing credit, according to Spotify.
Ski Mask self-produced “Catch Me Outside,” and only he, Missy, and Tim have writing credits, according to a search of the Songview database.
Some of Ski Mask’s fans felt that not only was Cardi’s beat similar to “Catch Me Outside,” there were overlaps in the flow and the music videos.
“Even the mirror shots sort of similar,” one person commented.
“Ofc she stealing flows,” another said. Someone else chimed in, “Stole your whole flow.”
“All she does is steal Florida rappers beats and flows,” one person said, a reference to Cardi’s breakout hit “Bodak Yellow,” which interpolated Kodak Black’s “No Flockin.”
Cardi faced flow-stealing criticisms for that song, too. During a 2017 concert in South Carolina, she addressed the accusations.
The rapper, who’s not exactly known for pulling her punches, hit back like only she can.
“For anybody that be telling me ‘Oh you copied Kodak flow, you copied this and that flow,’ so what, bitch? So what? I’mma sound like all your favorite rappers, I’mma take all they flows, and I’mma body a bitch,” she said to huge cheers from the crowd. “One day I’mma sound like Kodak, the next day I’mma sound like Meek Mill, the next day I’mma sound like Migos and I don’t give a fuck… Because I give it up with that pen.”
