Wiz Khalifa Sparks Fan Excitement With ‘Kush & OJ 2’ Update Leave a comment

Wiz Khalifa has announced that a sequel to one of his most beloved projects is complete, and his fans are both ecstatic and nervous.

“Kush and Oj 2 is done and going into mixing,” the Pittsburgh rapper said on Saturday (March 30) via X (formerly Twitter). “Thank you to everyone involved. Taylor Gang The World.”

Wiz’s post included what appears to be the cover art for Kush & Orange Juice 2, which features posters of many of the rapper’s previous projects as well as magazine covers.

Hours later, the Taylor Gang chief shared that he had received music from producer Cardo, who helmed two songs including “Mezmorized,” on Wiz’s original Kush & Orange Juice back in 2010.

Cardo confirmed his involved in a tweet as well.

Wiz Khalifa’s fans were pleased, if wary, about a sequel to Kush & Orange Juice, with one person writing: “Don’t you dare ruin kush and oj legacy.”

“High risk high reward,” another agreed, while a third observer succinctly responded: “Don’t fuck this up.”

Lyrical Lemonade founder Cole Bennett also weighed in to share his excitement.

“[C]an’t wait,” he wrote. “kush & oj is one of my favorite projects of all time.”

Wiz has not yet announced a release date for the Kush & Orange Juice sequel.

Back in April of 2020, the “See You Again” hitmaker celebrated Kush & Orange Juice on the project’s 10th anniversary.

To commemorate his breakthrough project, Wiz released a collectible vinyl edition via Rostrum Records.

The double LP release contained two cloudy green 180-gram discs and came wrapped in ziplock shrink wrap along with an orange-scented juice carton gatefold.

Kush & Orange Juice helped solidify Wiz’s entry into the Hip Hop sphere, building a loyal fan-base around the mesh between marijuana culture and fun-loving, laid-back music.

The project also proved pivotal in creating long-lasting relationships with industry peers. Contributions from Curren$y and Big K.R.I.T. would continue to serve Wiz over the next decade, leading to touring and creating new music together.

Also on Kush & OJ‘s 10th birthday, K.R.I.T. reflected on the underground success of the trio’s song “Glass House” and explained how it landed on the mixtape.

“‘Glass House’ is a crowd favorite,” he said in a press release. “We created a moment with that record, know what I’m saying? 2010, SXSW. It happened so organically and then Wiz reached out like, ‘Yo I wanna put this on Kush & Orange Juice,’ and that was my first introduction to a lot of his fan base.

“It’s been crazy since then — between going on tour and performing it every time we hit the stage together,” he added. “That’s what timeless music is all about. Because now, it’s 2020, the 10 year anniversary and that record still goes up you feel me?”
