YK Osiris is gearing up for his return with a new EP and he’s bringing DeJ Loaf and Tyga along for the ride.
Talking to Billboard in a new interview published on Wednesday (March 20), the “Worth It” singer gave some details about the forthcoming project – though he said he doesn’t have a title or release date just yet.
“EP coming out,” he told the outlet. “I got a couple features on there. I know for sure it’s coming soon. It’s elevated, I feel new, I feel great.”
He continued: “I have a song with DeJ Loaf and Tyga. I’m very excited about DeJ and me, that’s a great record. It’s called ‘TV.’ … And the song with me and Tyga is hard. Party vibe. It’s not a record you’re gonna expect from me.”
After signing to Def Jam Records and finding success with his breakout single “Worth It” in 2019, YK Osiris has found himself in headlines more for random debts than for music in the time since. But his focus appears to be back with music once again.
After leaving Def Jam in 2022, Osiris made his official debut as an independent artist with the release of “Dear Fans” last summer. The song’s accompanying music video opens with him in a therapy session wherein the psychologist is also played by him.
“It’s actually hard to talk about my problems,” he says in the video. “I don’t think anyone understands me for real … maybe just my fans.”
Osiris explains that he’s been trying to figure out how to show the world who he really is, which is why he decided to write his fans a letter. This is precisely what the song is about — the Florida native letting down his guard and embracing transparency.
In February, YK Osiris released the emotional ballad “Time Goes By,” which may live on the forthcoming EP.
The track is produced by ChrsProd and Gabe Lucas, with the accompanying visual serving as a powerful display of his quest for redemption.
