Kanye West Sides With Kendrick Lamar Over Drake & J. Cole Leave a comment

Kanye West appears to have picked a side in the growing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake and J. Cole.

Ever since Kendrick set the Hip Hop world on fire by dissing Drizzy and Cole on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” numerous artists have weighed in to offer their takes.

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday (March 26), Ye seemingly threw his support behind K. Dot by posting an Apple Music screenshot of their “No More Parties In LA” collaboration, from his 2016 album The Life of Pablo.

While the intent behind the post is unclear, fans have interpreted it as Kanye siding with the Compton rapper over his “big three” competitors.

“Kanye quite clearly showing his allegiance to Kendrick,” one person said of the post.

“It’s really the Avengers vs Dranos,” another said, likening the rivalry to the Marvel film franchise.

Someone else joked: “I know Kanye also got beef with both Drake and J. Cole, give me a tag team Kanye & Kendrick vs. Drake & J. Cole hell in a cell match bruh.”

Reminiscent of his fiery bars on 2013’s “Control,” Kendrick Lamar’s guest verse on “Like That” — from Future and Metro Boomin’s joint album We Don’t Trust You — found him not-so-subliminally tearing into Drake and J. Cole.

Referencing the pair’s hit single “First Person Shooter,” he rapped: “Yeah, get up with me/ Fuck sneak dissin’, first person shooter/ I hope they came with three switches.”

He also addressed the long-running debate over who’s the best rapper between them: “Think I won’t drop the location? I still got PTSD/ Muthafuck the big three, n-gga, it’s just big me.”

Kanye West and Drake have also been going back and forth for years despite collaborating with each other several times.

Among other things, Kanye alleged that Drake slept with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and recently took a shot at the Canadian in a rant about adidas.

“Fuck Drake for taking Durk right at the beginning of the Vultures role [sic] out I’ll come back to yall if I think of more fuck you’s,” he wrote on Instagram, referencing Lil Durk being added to Drake and J. Cole’s Big As the What? Tour.

Cole also famously took shots at the Chicago rap icon on his 2016 track “False Prophets.”

He rapped: “He tell us he a genius but it’s clearer lately/ It’s been hard for him to look into the mirror lately. There was a time when this n-gga was my hero maybe/ That’s why his fall from grace is hard to take/ ‘Cause I believed him when he said his shit was purer and he the type of n-gga swear he real but all around is fake.”
